Durability, Beauty & Versatility

Metalphoto® is photosensitive, anodized aluminum used to make extremely durable, high-resolution nameplates, labels, and control panels. MetalPhoto® is used when identification, labeling, or control panels must remain legible and intact in the harshest environments, where fading, abrasion, or corrosion are not acceptable. Precision Graphics produces MetalPhoto® products by embedding high-resolution images directly into a sapphire-hard, anodized aluminum layer, creating permanent graphics that withstand sunlight, chemicals, abrasion, temperature extremes, and long-term outdoor exposure. This photographic imaging process supports ultra-fine detail, variable data, machine-readable barcodes, and serialized information while maintaining exceptional durability. MetalPhoto® is commonly used in military and defense applications, industrial equipment, utilities, transportation, asset identification, aerospace, and government systems. This solution is ideal when permanence, traceability, compliance, and long-term performance are critical for prototypes, short runs, or production quantities.

Our MetalPhoto® products are an incredible combination of durability, versatility, and beauty.  We are proud to be one of the largest certified MetalPhoto® converters in the country. We explain the basics on our MetalPhoto® webpage below but if you would like more information, feel free to check out MetalPhoto's own website.
Anodic Layer

The glass-clear, sapphire-hard anodized layer resists chemicals, paint, abrasion, and dirt.

Sealed Image

Black graphics are metallic silver particles that hold up to extreme heat and sunlight exposure

Aluminum Layer

The rigid aluminum base will not peel, crack, or delaminate.

High Resolution

Metalphoto® is an archival, silver-halide based image sealed inside of a photo-anodized aluminum sheet.  Once the sheet is exposed to UV light, developed, and sealed, the result is a product with a crisp black image on natural aluminum that can withstand 20 years of outdoor exposure.  The ultra-high resolution can create details including machine-readable barcodes, anti-counterfeit security features and serialized data.

The images are imbedded in a sapphire-hard photosensitive anodized layer of aluminum.  Metalphoto® control panels and name plates function perfectly for years and retain their original appearance regardless of a broad variety of challenging environments.  They will not fade.  They resist extreme temperatures, long-term outdoor exposure, abrasion, salt spray and harsh chemicals.  Because of this exceptional durability, Metalphoto® panels and nameplates meet stringent mil-spec standards such as GGP-455b(3), Mil-P-15024F Type H, Mil-P-514D, Mil-P-19834B types I and II, and Mil-A-8625E. Metalphoto® is also recognized under UL file MH17767.

Metalphoto® has minimal set-up which makes it perfect for short runs, prototypes, and unique applications.  When durability is the primary requirement, Metalphoto® is an excellent solution for longer runs as well.

Metalphoto® is available in nine gauges from .003” to .125”.  Other gauges up to .375” thick can be achieved by laminate construction with standard aluminum gauges.  All our Metalphoto® features in-house machining capabilities.  Additional colors may be screen printed and sealed into the panel affording the same resistance as the standard colors; black and aluminum.
